Art-ing

From an early age I have expressed myself through the body, music and art and feel this mode of expression is helpful in accessing seemingly inaccessible thoughts and feelings where words might be insufficient. I am interested in the symbolism and phenomenology of our individual lives and the culture we live in and how in exploring our ‘symptoms as symbols’, we have a tool to discover what our unconscious is trying to communicate.

I studied Contemporary Fine Art at Oxford Brookes University from 2003 – 2006, where I specialised in Audio Visual and Performance Art. She was interested in what the mind could endure and that ‘madness’ isn’t necessarily always a bad thing. The process of unravelling can be valued as a rite of passage and an initiation into ‘adulthood’. As an extension of this theme Claudia went on to explore Yoga as a way of dealing with anxiety and panic attacks and has recently qualified as a Transpersonal Integrative Psychotherapist at The Centre For Counselling and Psychotherapy, London.

Since my degree, I have focused on these other explorations but have taken time to return to drawing and painting when I can.
